Five Months of Fun

Five months ago our little family was in the hospital enjoying the sweet newborn bliss of our darling Charlotte Mae (also, it was my birthday, and we had some awesome cupcakes). We had no idea yet just how crazy things would get (like we talked about in this post), and no idea what her little personality would be like. We did know that we loved her to pieces. How could you not?

Five months later we couldn't love her more! Charly is a delight to have around. Watching her learn is one of my favorite experiences. Here are a few of the things she has been up to lately:

  • She loves scratching. Anything. She scratches the seatbelt in the car, the carpet, her clothes, our faces- its her way of exploring the world around her.
  • She rolls all.the.time. Everywhere.
  • She goes through noise phases. As she learns a new sound, she'll make it over and over again for about a week, then she's kinda over it. It is really fun to hear all the things she figures out how to do. Right now she likes gurgling or short high pitched squeals. She also went through a grunt phase, a motorboat phase, a coo phase, and probably more I can't remember. Screech week was the best:)
  • She does crunches a lot. I think she's working out so she can start sitting soon.
  • She loves the bath! She kicks and squeals. Its adorable.
  • She loves books- like so much. She likes to turn the pages on her board books, but even more she loves to chew on them. I let her, because I think as long as she is interacting with books and having a good experience she will continue to enjoy them.
  • She has some stacking cups that she is really in to. She still likes to knock them down if we stack them for her, but she also likes pulling them out if they are nested together and then putting them back inside each other.
  • The girl has got a sense of humor! She laughs at a lot of things, but saying something high pitched while bobbing your head back and forth is a pretty surefire way to get a chuckle out of her.
  • She still sleeps great- maybe wakes up once in the night if she's come unswaddled and goes right back to sleep.
  • She loves watching other kids. We just got back from the library "Babygarten" story time and she seriously just watches all the other kids and smiles. Its fun.
  • Her motor skills are getting much better. Here's a little video to demonstrate:

She's advanced :)

We pretty much love her to pieces.

Oh, and sorry for the no post-age yesterday. I was busy making a swaddle contraption all day for the little dear, which she promptly wriggled out of as soon as we had her in it. It's ok, it kinda looked like a straight jacket anyhow. Fail.

I'm doing lotsa projects, though, and will try to post about them as they come. Also, maybe another giveaway is in order? I dunno, it seemed like you guys kinda liked that :)
