As absolutely cliche as this sounds, I can't believe Charly is already six months old! I could marvel on and on about how the time has gone so quickly, how they grow so fast, how she has changed so much... but
saying typing those things makes me feel old, so lets skip that.
At six months, Charly is an adventure every day. In true monthly update fashion, here are a few fun facts about our six month old baby girl:
|
Loving her food!
- Girlfriend loves food. So far she has only been introduced to peas, bananas and squash, but she gets so excited for it and constantly says "mmmmmmm" while she is eating.
- She is getting very social. She'll smile for just about anyone, but especially loves kids. Everywhere we go she is giggling and smiling at people. What a charmer:)
- She is scooting like mad! It is kind of an army crawl at this point. She can get up on to her hands, and she can get up on to her knees, but not at the same time. I think she'll figure it out soon. (edit: I wrote this post last night, and at her 6 month check up today she got up on her hands and knees, on the exam table, and scooted her little self along! Not quite a crawling motion yet, but it will be any day, now that she can get up on all fours)

Chewing on anything she can
- She is teething. This is unpleasant, but she is such a good baby to begin with that we can't complain too much. Probably the biggest change it has made is in her sleep habits (which are a whole mess right now, and probably actually the result of teething, eczema, a yeast infection, and the whole swaddle debacle) but she does get more fussy and drools like a St. Bernard. Also, she tries to chew on our faces, along with anything else she can get her mouth to.
- She is always happy when she wakes up. It is so cute, except for at 2:30 in the morning, or after a 30 minute nap. Still, it makes it hard to really be upset when she flashes her gummy smile and coos.
- She said 'da da'- and just like her other noises, she did it a bunch and then moved on. We can barely get her to say it now, but Matt still loves that she said 'da da' first, despite the fact that she doesn't connect any meaning to it.
- She loves water. Bathtime is still a treat, and the few times we have gone swimming she has really enjoyed it. Yesterday it started to downpour while we were running errands and she was delighted with the rain hitting her bare legs.

Charly enthralled with Sesame Street
- She has an incredible attention span. She doesn't watch TV too often, but the few times she has watched Sesame Street she has been enthralled with it for 30-40 minutes. Pretty crazy for a baby, I think.
- She started doing this funny thing where she slides her binky to one side of her mouth and sticks her tongue out the other. I've got to try to get a picture.

Charly riding 'uncle Hank' at the race. This picture is not relevant, but it is cute.
- Charly is incredibly active. I think she is going to keep us very busy. She is constantly moving.
- She has a zeal for life. She is so alert and alive. Her personality is already shining through and it is so fun to see and learn about who this little person is!
Happy half a year, sweet baby!
