Fair Fare

We had a fantastic weekend. Not only was it General Conference (which I always look forward to), but we spent a little time at the Virginia State Fair. We met Matt's parents there on Saturday morning for a fun filled  day of fair fare (see what I did there? how is that for alliteration?)

We started with some photo ops:

So fierce
And then moved on to the animals:

Charly liked petting the alpaca. He showed his appreciation by giving her kisses.

The ram, ready for his glamour shot.

Baby pig! Matt sooo wants a pig for a pet. Maybe someday (cough:never)

 She loves animals!

Tiny baby duck. What is it about baby animals that makes them irresistable?! We got to see baby chicks hatching, and I swear those damp gangly little guys were the cutest thing ever!

We hit up some rides:

Those jeggings are supposed to be pants, not capris (and they are 12m size). We have one tall girl on our hands!

Checked out the agriculture exhibit:

Ultimate pumpkin carving. These things were HUGE! I can't imagine spending that much time carving something that will rot in such a short amount of time.

Took a few more fun photos:

And of course, partook in some delightful carnie food:

He's a savage beast!

My friends, this is a deep fried twinkie. I was skeptical, but it was surprisingly good. I'd say it is better than a regular twinkie for sure.

I get that crazy look in my eye when I hear the words "chocolate dipped cheesecake"

The Virginia State Fair was the best one I've been to, possibly ever. There is something for everyone at the fair- except perhaps food for the health conscious. I bet you could make a killing selling veggie trays.

The Virginia State Fair will be going through Oct. 9th and is located off I 95 at the Kings Dominion exit. Virginia friends, you should go! Find more info on their website. You won't regret it!
