What a year!

It has been one exciting/exhasting/funny/memorable/delightful/stressful and all around full year. Now that we have Charly in our lives we wouldn't want to experience a year without her.

We are in Utah now and were planning on partying it up today for Charly's first birthday, however both Charly and I got the stomach flu yesterday. So we will have to party it up another day. But when we do there will be cake. There will be balloons. There will be much merriment. And no throwing up! I'll fill you all in on that later, but I thought I'd drop in today to share a little about Charly at one year old.

At one year, Charly is chatting up a storm, but only a few words are recognizable. She says shoes, book, gab gab (for Yo Gabba Gabba), Melmo (Elmo), Mama, Dada, Nana, duck and yesterday morning she said home, but I don't think she associates it with anything. She signs milk, more, all done, eat, and waves, high-fives, and blows kisses. She knows what noises dogs, ducks and cows make and even says 'woof'' every time she sees a dog.

She sleeps through the night like a champ. Most nights she sleeps 7pm-7am. She naps anywhere from 2-4 hours, once a day. We are really happy about that.

Charly is a social creature. She'll let anyone hold her and crawls up to strangers. She loves making people laugh- and once she knows what gets ya, she'll do it time and again as long as you keep laughing.

She still eats well, but is getting more discerning in her likes and dislikes. Still at the top of her list are bananas, squash, avocados, pears, spaghetti, clementines scrambled eggs , and applesauce. Though she only has three teeth, she manages quite well with all sorts of foods. Meat really isn't her thing still, but Matt is hoping once she has a few more chompers she'll learn to appreciate it.

We put together a photo timeline for her party with pictures from each week of her life so far (and a few thrown in at the beginning from before she was born) so I thought we'd share those pictures with you all. It is fun to be able to see the physical changes that have happened over the past year. Most of these are pictures we have shared before- indulge me, will ya?

Putting this timeline together was a really fun way to reflect on the past year. Matt and I found ourselves saying "oh remember this? when she wouldn't sleep and we taped her up?...or her crazy amounts of spit up that lasted nine whole months? or that ugly bee toy she couldn't get enough of? or our trip to Philly? or the beach?..."

Yep, it's been a good year.

Oh and by the way... she started to do this yesterday...

Happy Birthday Charly!
