Yes, I am aware that it is now July 17 and this is almost not worth blogging about, but this is my only journal (which means you all know how crappy I am at journaling our lives) so Imma blog about it anyway.
It was the 4th of July! And we celebrated! Just like last year, we kicked off the day with the Independence Day Parade. It was hot, which is why Charly looks like she is hating life. She was. BUT! She did still have fun a few times. She got a few pieces of candy and chewed right through the wrapper of a now and later.
Candy shoved in her mouth, wrapper included.
Somehow the best part of the parade was the Bolivian dancers. They were also the scariest.
Remember how it was hot? Swimming crept to the top of the list after being out in the heat at the parade. We went to the pool with our friends from the first picture. Charly was the most daring I'd ever seen her as she tried to copy those older girls- she even put her face in the water a few times!
After a nap (essential) we had a basement BBQ (cook outside, eat in the basement to beat the heat) with our friends followed by fireworks, which we watched from the church parking lot. Charly loved the sparklers, just like last year, but this year it was harder to keep her safe since she's crazy mobile and independent. Fireworks + child with no fear. Bad combo. Somehow we ended the evening unscathed, despite Charly trying to blow out the sparklers like a candle and darting toward a moving car.
And can I just say, watching this video from last year kinda blew my mind! A year makes a crazy difference. I almost don't remember what she was like at that age. This is why I am grateful for a blog- and a talented friend who captured those moments- so I can remember all the amazing, tiny, fun, crazy and even crappy things about life. Life is precious.
