First, the bad news. Our dear plant, orchy (an orchid, obviously) is not doing so great. Although there are five blossoms going strong, the three most recent blossoms have died. Keep him in your prayers.
Since Spring Break, which was the last time I blogged, Matt was called to the bishopbric of one of the student wards here. We were pretty surprised about the call, but the bishop and the first counselor are both people from our ward who are wonderful. Pretty much the University Third Ward is going to rock next year. They were called three weeks before the semester ended so they got to finish out the year and they have a break for the summer until August, so we get to continue being ward missionaries, nursery workers and stake indexers until then :)
Also, we been fixin' our house all cute like. Another IKEA trip and a little TLC did the trick, and it is looking pretty darn cute if I say so myself. Luckily, others also say so, so I know its true.
I graduated! It was great. The fam all flew out and we had what we all regard our best family vacation ever in DC and Richmond. It was great having some Barneck-Coats time that wasn't all about weddings. Bonding to the max!! We saw tons of cool stuff, such as civil war battlefields, the confederate white house, caverns, monuments, mount vernon and museums. Dad wandered around DC by himself for a while which made everyone very happy, especially Dad. Kenzie had a growth in her throat that we referred to as swine flu, and we also toured the White House. The real one. All in all it was fantastic. We wish we could have stayed foreva!
The rest of May was filled with fun and adventure, aka finishing up my senior paper, which is now done HOLLA!!
We had a road trip pretty much every weekend between weddings, temple trips and graduations. We are sick of driving but happy we could be a part of so many wonderful events.
I almost forgot we had a Brazillian BBQ today with some of our friends in the ward! It was amazing! Matt is in heaven!
Most recently we have been watching season four of 24. For anyone who has never seen it, calling it intense is an understatement. We'll just say we have watched about ten hours of it this week. In-tense.
We also went to see SVU's summer musical on Thursday. They did Seussical the Musical. I think it is probably one of the best shows we have seen here at SVU. Nate Pence was born to be the Cat in the Hat. It was a stellar production!
I am starting my new job TOMORROW as a counselor at Project Horizon, an agency that serves victims of domestic and sexual violence. I will be counseling adult victims for the next year. I feel so blessed to get such a great job right out of college. It will be a great experience that will pretty much help me to pee the bed.
I stepped away from the computer and as you can see my wonderful husband decided to finish my sentence. Thanks Matt. You're great.
But seriously, it will be a great experience that will pretty much help me to be able to attend graduate school if I so choose or at least have some experience on my resume.
My phone is not working so great, so I may go down and get a new one tomorrow after my first day of work, which makes it an all around exciting day. We also bought a dryer and will soon buy a washer, so our laundromat days are numbered. We just have to wait for our landlord to get the electrician to fix a 220 volt plug so that we can actually use our new dryer.
Well, folk, such is the exciting life of Matt and Holli. Every day is an adventure.
