| The 3X3 I ordered my last day in Utah |
Growing up in Southern California as a child I was raised on In-N-Out. As a baby instead of suckling on the teat I suckled on the sweetness of the double double. I feel being raised on In-N-Out has given me an edge in a culinary sense by training my palate on the best of flavors. A little much? No not really.

Zion...aka Utah...is one step closer to ascension by having In-N-Out grace its fertile soil. Since we travel there often, I try to eat In-N-Out as much as I possibly can. What makes In-N-Out so good you ask? Let me explain:
1) They have their own meat processing plant that all restaurants have to be within 1 days drive of because their meat is fresh and never frozen. They use 100% ground chuck and 0% pink slime.
2) Their vegetables are fresh and hand cut. You can literally look around the corner and see someone hand tearing lettuce and they peel and chop their potatoes right in front of you.
3) Their sponge bread is baked and delivered fresh by them. Are you starting to get the hint about freshness. Their motto is "Quality you can taste"
4) Although their menu is small and has only a few options, they have a secret menu that gives you various options. See link here.(it really is an awesome link. I learned about stuff even I didn't know!)
5) They pay all of their employees well over minimum wage and even offer benefits to part time employees. They don't just hire any Joe Shmoe off the streets. I have never had anything other than a pleasant experience dealing with their employees and have never had my order messed up, even when I throw a tricky secret menu item in the mix. On the other hand, Taco Bell has yet to get my order right in the past 5 years.

If you think this is all just a bunch of ramblings of a crazy person here are a few celebrity chefs that also like In-N-Out:
- Gordon Ramsay ate In-N-Out for the first time when taping Hell's Kitchen in Los Angeles, and it soon became one of his favorite spots for take-out.[39] Ramsay was quoted, saying about the experience: "In-N-Out burgers were extraordinary. I was so bad, I sat in the restaurant, had my double cheeseburger then minutes later I drove back round and got the same thing again to take away."
- Thomas Keller, a fan of In-N-out, celebrated with In-N-Out burgers at the anniversary party of his restaurant, The French Laundry.[40] Keller also plans on opening his own burger restaurant inspired by his Los Angeles experience of In-N-Out.[41]
- Julia Child, one of the first celebrity champions on the chain, admitted to knowing every location of the restaurant between Santa Barbara and San Francisco.[42] Child also had the burgers delivered to her during a hospital stay.[40]
- Anthony Bourdain reportedly said that In-N-Out was his favorite fast food meal.
- Iron Chef Mario Batali is also a big In-N-Out fan.
Living on the east coast is hard for me mainly because I cannot see the day we will get In-N-Out here. L uckily I ran across this blog that has a very detailed recipe to make a double double at home. See link here. So of course I tried it! And it was awesome. not quite the real deal, but it was really close. If you come over to our house and ask, I just might make you some!
