Massanutten

To celebrate my youngest sister's birthday, my family went on a weekend trip last week to a resort called Massanutten (I know it's fun say). Massanutten is in Harrisonburg, VA and is mainly a ski resort (I know skiing in Virginia is almost as funny as saying "Massanutten"), but there is plenty to do there in the summer. They have several golf courses, an indoor water park, horseback riding, hiking, petting zoo, and it's all nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains.

This trip had the perfect fun to relaxation ratio. I often feel that vacations can be too far on the "do" spectrum where its go-go-go all the time and you don't get a break, especially when you are only there for a weekend. Then when you get home you feel like you need a vacation to recoup from your vacation. Some seem too far on the other end of the spectrum and it feels like a waste of time and money. This one was a perfect mix of both.

Charly had a blast as you can see. It has been a while since she has been swimming. After the shock of taking the whole place in, she was ready to swim and play. She loved the kiddy area, but the problem with the kiddy area is you are wet, but not under water, so she got really cold. She is really going to get a kick out of the pool this summer.

Excuse My Absence...

Didja miss me? I know, I've been gone a while- and I don't even have a note from my mom. Can I be excused anyway?

Charly and I had a great TWO WEEK visit with my family in Utah. It was fantastic to be able to spend so much time with them! We did a lot of fun stuff, but not so much that we felt rushed. We still had plenty of time to relax and enjoy each others company. As usual I didn't take nearly enough pictures. I seem to forget about the camera when I'm having fun, so let the lack of pictures be a testament to the good times had. I'll share a few anyway, just to give you a little glimpse of our trip.

Surprise Vacation to Philly

For the past three weeks I have been planning a super secret family vacation to Philadelphia. Holli is a hard person to trick and keep secrets from. I have been extra cautious not to let anything slip, but it was really hard for me to hold it all in. She was very surprised to see me still in my PJs when she came home from her run on Friday. I then handed her a series of letters with clues in them, but didn’t spill the beans until we were in the car driving to our destination. I had planned it for the previous weekend, but things just didn’t work out. So we ended up going on one of the hottest weekends of the year (well I hope it will be the hottest). Temps got well into the 100’s during the day and in the 80’s at night! Let us not forget about the humidity!

Productive, Seductive, Virginia

Holli and I are from the West coast. Holli made up a word just now, "Westcoasties," I know people, she's a poet. Although we are westcoasties, I have this fondness of Virginia that seems to intensify the longer we live here. One thing I love about Virginia is how diverse it's beauty is. Our mini-vacation to the beach was a perfect example of this. Our travels took us on a scenic tour through what I think are the three main regions of Virginia. So here they are:

Summer Time Lovin!

Today is a picture post.

We took an impromptu trip to the beach this past weekend (along with some other delightful stops) and had a great time. I'll share those details hopefully tomorrow. Today I've got my work cut out for me recouping our messy house from a weekend away, but I thought you all might enjoy a little taste of the beach for your Monday Morning.
