-She sleeps great! We FINALLY have a routine (that seems to be sticking!) where she goes down easily on her own, hardly ever wakes up in the night (and when she does she usually puts herself back to sleep) and still naps well. She wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30 every morning, which is sucky, but we'll take early mornings with a full nights sleep any day.
-She loves Dora and Diego. Remember how she wakes up super early? Yeah, she definitely watches tv every morning cause we aren't ready to be awake yet. If I'm out running Matt snoozes on the couch while she watches, and if I'm not then I snooze on the couch while she watches. It works for us. Don't judge.
-She has been playing independently really well. This is fabulous.
-Still loves her babies. She feeds them, changes their diapers, burps them (complete with sound effects) and puts them down for naps.
-She is all about saying her prayers now. It is cute how she reminds us as soon as we finish brushing her teeth. We couldn't resist recording it.
-Coloring is an all day activity. She obviously doesn't stay in the lines, but she is really particular about trying to color a specific thing, and she'll tell you what it is. It is pretty common to see her sitting on the floor by herself, "Elmo tuhybook" (her Elmo coloring book) open to a particular page, saying "Ernie. Knee. Tuhya. Yeg (leg). Fwowahs (flowers)." and coloring each specific part.
-Girlfriend knows what she wants, and she knows how to ask for it. This is actually a really great thing because it means we don't have a lot of meltdowns where I have no idea why she is upset. Instead she has meltdowns where I know exactly what she wants but I won't give it to her. She'll ask incessantly to watch various shows or youtube clips- "Deego. Wat Deego. Deego." She'll ask for water or milk, specific toys or books she wants us to read, request snacks and meals, and direct us on which clothes or shoes she wants to wear. Sometimes that includes my shoes.
-Speaking of meltdowns... they've been more frequent lately, and she's started just flopping on the ground like a fish when she gets upset and rolling around. I fear the worst is yet to come...
-She started a very bizarre and disgusting habit of giving spit baths to everything and everyone. Ernie and her babies are the most frequent victims, but Matt and I get our fair share as well. She'll lick her hand, then name the part she is washing as she rubs it with her spitty little hands. Nasty child.
-We have a thrice-weekly routine of watching the garbage truck come and empty the dumpster near our apartment. Charly hears it before I can see it, so we get in to position in front of the window, then she narrates the entire thing for me. You can see the dramatic scene unfold here:
-Her vocabulary is ever-increasing. Seriously, if she doesn't know a word, she'll repeat it when we say it anyway. It seems to only take a few times before she gets it and uses it on her own. Her pronunciation is getting better as well, and she'll string more words together to describe things.
-Her hair is growing crazy fast, and I can't decide whether I should cut it into a cute bob like it used to be (which looks cute with minimal effort) or let it keep growing and enjoy the fun styles- and sometimes crazy bed-head. Thoughts?
